Overview

Through a stage performance in real conditions, the students weaved a story about one of the most specific costumes - the Mariovo costume, which is a precious stone of the Macedonian cultural heritage. We returned to the time of our ancestors, a time when the young Mariovo bride had to carry her clothes, and jewelry sometimes heavier than herself (over 40 kg.) and she did all this with pride, with joy, with love. Through their story, we also enjoyed the impressive landscape of Mariovo, which hides many beauties and still insufficiently exposed cultural remains from the past. The Mariovo houses, their exterior and interior, are witnessing a time when this area was "alive", and now it is just a desolate place, full of "untold" stories that young people in Macedonia and wider should know about, visit and enjoy, remembering the Princess Marija after whom the area was named Mariovo, "Kalesh Angja" by Stale Popov, the cunnings of the legendary Mariovo man Itar Pejo. The women's costume in the Mariovo region, due to its stylistic and artistic design, the harmonious unity of its decorations, the abundance of red woolen fringes, as well as the series of embroidered ornaments with geometric and stylized vegetal motifs, is counted among the most beautiful, but also the heaviest costumes in Macedonia and represents a peak domain of folk creativity. The bridal costume weighs over 50 okas (about 63 kg)
