"DESDE LA TORRE DEFENDEMOS"

La Torre de Guaita de Tavernes de la Valldigna, situada en La Safor (sur de Valencia), es un edificio importante del patrimonio histórico local. Fue construida en 1575 por orden de Felipe II como parte de una red de torres costeras destinadas a vigilar y defender la costa valenciana de los ataques de piratas berberiscos.

Es una de las torres más altas y esbeltas del Reino de Valencia, hecha de mampostería y con tres plantas, donde aún se conserva una chimenea interior. A lo largo de los siglos ha mantenido una excelente conservación y hoy es un lugar de interés turístico, rodeado de un entorno natural junto al río Vaca y cerca de la playa.

Actualmente se utiliza como punto de interés turístico, zona de ocio, rutas de senderismo y lugar para barbacoas. Su función y valor histórico se recuerdan gracias a paneles informativos. En Europa existen otras torres similares, como las de Xeraco, la Torre del Marenyet en Cullera, las torres genovesas en Italia y Córcega, la Torre de Belém en Portugal o las Pels Towers en la frontera entre Inglaterra y Escocia.

"FROM THE TOWER WE DEFEND"

The Guaita Tower in Tavernes de la Valldigna, located in La Safor (south of Valencia), is an important part of the local historical heritage. It was built in 1575 by order of Philip II as part of a network of coastal towers designed to monitor and defend the Valencian coast from attacks by Barbary pirates.

It is one of the tallest and slimmest towers in the Kingdom of Valencia, built in masonry with three floors, in which an interior fireplace is still preserved. Over the centuries it has been preserved in excellent condition and today it is a tourist attraction, surrounded by natural surroundings next to the Vaca River and close to the beach.

It is currently used as a tourist attraction, leisure area, hiking trail, and barbecue spot. Its function and historical value are commemorated on information panels. There are other similar towers in Europe, such as those in Xeraco, the Torre del Marenyet in Cullera, the Genoese towers in Italy and Corsica, the Torre de Belém in Portugal, and the Pels Towers on the border between England and Scotland.
