For us, heritage is not just old things or memories from the past.This is what connects us to the people who lived before us. This is what helps us understand who we are.

When our school revives the craft of making Yavoriv toys, we feel like we are touching a real miracle. Yavoriv toy is a traditional Ukrainian wooden children's toy that has long been made in the town of Yavoriv in the Lviv region.

The Yavoriv toy is not just a thing. It is a part of Ukrainian culture and soul. It preserves folk traditions, the beauty of handcraft, and love for the native land. Heritage for us is the opportunity to learn what our great-grandfathers were able to do.

Each toy, made with our own hands, seems to bring history to life: we imagine the craftsmen who worked many years ago, their love for their craft, their patience and imagination.  It is also a way to preserve what could disappear if we forget about it.

We understand that it depends on us whether our art will live on. And this makes us a little more responsible, more mature. Heritage is our connection to our hometown, to our culture, to our past, which we want to carry into the future.

It brings us closer to each other and teaches us to respect our history.
