Bessarabia - more than a month away
In this video, we have shared only a small part of what our region is all about, because it is simply impossible to cover all the traditions of the peoples of Bessarabia.
We have shared where we live, what we eat every day, and what is truly dear to us. They say that Bessarabia is farther than the moon because it is a special place. Here, at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, Ukrainians, Moldovans, Bulgarians, Gagauz, Lipovans, Jews, and many other peoples have lived and interacted for centuries.
Each of them left a piece of themselves in our land. From the Gagauz, we inherited songs and dances; from the Moldovans, games, carpets, and handmade fabrics; from the Romanians, rituals and customs; and from the Jewish community, unique synagogues and entire neighborhoods. All of this together creates a living and profound heritage.
For us, cultural heritage is not just the past. It is the traditions, knowledge, and skills of different peoples, passed down from generation to generation. It is the memory of our roots, which helps us understand who we are today. It is not only preserved in archives, but also passed down in families, in everyday life, and in people's memories. For us, heritage is a bridge between generations that helps us understand who we are and feel part of European history.
