BIENVENIDOS AL IES JOSÉ MARÍA INFANTES, LA ESCUELA-MUSEO. 

En esta escuela hay matemáticas, ciencia, historia o idiomas, pero también es un gran museo. Es una puerta abierta al patrimonio europeo. Para nosotros, el patrimonio no es algo del pasado. Es algo vivo. Algo que se toca, que se aprende, que se comparte. Aquí, en el IES José María Infantes, el patrimonio es arte, es historia, es tradición, es comunicación. Y nosotros lo mantenemos vivo cada día. Nuestro instituto no es un simple edificio, es una puerta abierta a todos y una ventana abierta el mundo. ¡Ven a conocerlo! Con Alejandro, Daniela, Edu y Santi, estudiantes de la optativa de Cultura Europea, de 3º ESO, que nos representan a todos.

Durante más de 20 años, hemos llenado las aulas con reproducciones de obras de arte, desde la prehistoria hasta las vanguardias. En un pasillo puedes encontrar catedrales prehistóricas y al girar la esquina estás… en un antiguo templo egipcio; o en la Alhambra de Granada; o en la Capilla Sixtina del Renacimiento; o bajo la Cúpula de Goya; o en un jardín pompeyano; o en la Escuela de Atenas. Son lugares que cuentan historias antiguas y modernas, alegres y tristes, religiosas y paganas, mitos clásicos o grandes historias de amor. 

Cada obra nos cuenta una parte de la historia de Europa, como la conquista normanda narrada en el Tapiz de Bayeux, en el 1066; el Siglo de Oro español en Las Meninas; el poder del Imperio en el retrato de Carlos V; o la revolución francesa en La Libertad Guiando al Pueblo. Además, aprendemos sobre ciencia, en la clase de Da Vinci o en el pasillo de la historia de los números.

El patrimonio también nos hace reflexionar sobre los grandes desafíos: las guerras en el Guernica, el drama de la inmigración en la Balsa de la Medusa o la lucha contra la violencia de género en el aula de Pop Art. Nosotros contamos esas historias y damos vida a los cuadros para expresar el arte o explicarlo de una manera divertida. 

Algunas paredes de nuestro instituto están hechas como la vida misma, con piezas muy distintas unas de otras; con ladrillos irregulares o imperfectos. Pero no importa, todas sirven. Con todas formamos un muro fuerte, como el del Rincón Europeo. 

Nos sentimos orgullosos, porque, igual que las antiguas civilizaciones, nosotros también dejamos huella: nuestro trabajo se queda en el cole para siempre. También dejamos un gran impacto en nuestra localidad. Miles de personas lo pueden disfrutar. 

Y lo mejor es que todos podemos participar. Todos pintamos, dibujamos. diseñamos, colaboramos, compartimos, sentimos, experimentamos, trabajamos y conservamos el patrimonio. Y desde distintas perspectivas, porque todos aprendemos y todos enseñamos. 

Nuestro instituto es un edificio vivo, que respira, que se transforma y que seguimos construyendo entre todos. 

Este es nuestro patrimonio. Está en Utrera.

WELCOME TO JOSÉ MARÍA INFANTES SECONDARY SCHOOL, THE SCHOOL MUSEUM. 

In this school we have mathematics, science, history, and languages, but it is also a great museum. It is an open door to European heritage. For us, heritage is not something from the past. It is something alive: something that can be touched, learned, and shared. Here, at José María Infantes, heritage is art, history, tradition, and communication. And we keep it alive every day.

Our school is not just a simple building; it is a door open to everyone and a window open to the world. Come and discover it! With Alejandro, Daniela, Edu, and Santi, students of the European Culture elective in year 3. They represent us all.

For more than 20 years, we have filled our classrooms with reproductions of works of art, from prehistory to the avant-garde movements. In one corridor you can find prehistoric cathedrals, and when you turn the corner, you are… in an ancient Egyptian temple; or in the Alhambra of Granada; or in the Sistine Chapel of the Renaissance; or beneath Goya’s Dome; or in a Pompeian garden; or in the School of Athens. These are places that tell ancient and modern stories, happy and sad, religious and pagan, classical myths, or great love stories.

Each work tells us part of the history of Europe, such as the Norman Conquest depicted in the Bayeux Tapestry in 1066; the Spanish Golden Age in Las Meninas; the power of the Empire in the portrait of Charles V; or the French Revolution in Liberty Leading the People. We also learn about science in Da Vinci´s classroom or the history of numbers exhibition.

Heritage also makes us reflect on major challenges: wars in Guernica, the drama of immigration in The Raft of the Medusa, or the fight against gender-based violence in the Pop Art classroom. We tell those stories and bring the paintings to life to express art or explain it in a fun and engaging way.

Some walls of our school are made like life itself, with very different pieces, with irregular or imperfect bricks. But it doesn’t matter — they all serve a purpose. Together, they build up a strong wall, like the one in the European Corner.

We feel proud because, just like ancient civilizations, we also leave our mark: our work remains in the school forever. We also make a strong impact on our local community, by donating works. Thousands of people can enjoy it.

And the best part is that everyone can take part. We all paint, draw, design, collaborate, share, feel, experiment, work, and preserve heritage. And from different perspectives, because we all learn and we all teach to one another.

Our school is a living building that breathes and evolves, and we continue to build it together.
