Overview

Our team’s name is “Luserun,” which means “Generation of Light” or “People of Light.” The team is made up of individuals united by a love for art, history, and culture, as well as an interest in cutting-edge technologies.

Our team believes that every historical and cultural site in Armenia can be presented in a way that fits the theme of the competition. However, the choice of the pagan Temple of Garni was determined by several factors:
• The Temple of Garni was built in the Greco-Roman architectural style.
• It is the only standing pagan structure in the region that has a direct connection to Roman imperial culture and, consequently, to the European culture of that period.
• The Temple of Garni is part of Hellenistic culture and, therefore, the “distant heir of Hellenistic Europe” in the South Caucasus.
• The bathhouse complex of the Temple of Garni is also unique, as it is technically identical to those of Rome, Pompeii, and Athens.

The pagan Temple of Garni is not only a unique architectural monument but also an important symbol of Armenian identity, the pre-Christian worldview, and cultural continuity. It testifies to Armenia’s involvement in the Hellenistic civilizational sphere while simultaneously preserving local traditions and beliefs. The temple’s geographical location, architectural solutions, and adjacent bathhouse complex demonstrate the high cultural and technical development of the time, making it an exceptional historical and cultural value of the region.

Our team thought long and hard about how to spark young people’s—especially our peers’—interest in Armenia’s history, culture, and values, and how to motivate them to explore and love our heritage. With this goal in mind, the educational game “Luserun” was created, which introduces young people to the history of the pagan Temple of Garni and its cultural significance in a pleasant and engaging way.

To start the game, participants must assemble a QR code presented in the form of a puzzle. By scanning it, they are directed to a special Telegram bot programmed by the team, where they must answer questions about the temple. After answering all the questions, the participant must solve a logic puzzle. There is a hidden information carrier in the model of the Temple of Garni, programmed by the “Luserun” team, to make the final stage of the game even more intriguing.

Our team aims to continue the “Luserun” series by creating new games about other historical and cultural sites in Armenia. The game will also contribute to the wider dissemination of the video about the temple. We are convinced that knowledge is power and light, and that spreading knowledge is the only way to raise a generation of light.
