Ijevan culture: At the crossroads of past and present
Ijevan—known as the “Northern Gate” of Armenia—begins its history from the depths of centuries as the living pulse of the Tavush natural landscape. Located on the banks of the Aghstev River and surrounded by rich forests, it has always been an important stronghold, a connecting link between Armenia and neighboring countries. Ijevan has been and remains the vibrant center of Tavush, where nature and history have intertwined, creating the foundation of our green and hospitable culture. To reveal this history, we have created a book with the title Ijevan’s Culture: At the Crossroads of Past and Present. The book covers the history of Ijevan’s old and new cultural values. First, we present a text telling about our team, then an introduction. We have created a map of Ijevan’s cultural centers, through which visitors can get to know the cultural life of the city.
The book consists of four chapters:
Chapter One: Historical Overview of Ijevan
Chapter Two: Spiritual Heritage
Chapter Three: Art
Chapter Four: Centers for Preservation of Ijevan Culture and Crafts.
To make the book accessible to everyone, we have compiled the book both in Armenian and English languages.
In our daily lives, we have met people who do not have the capacity to read, but want to learn about Ijevan culture. That is why we have filmed reports for some topics, which are presented in the book in the form of QR codes.
