Renovating le Moulin de Go back into a working mill
I was approach by some local villagers who wanted to help renovate my mill back into a working mill
I had owned the mill for 25 years when I was approached by local French villagers who wanted to volunteer to help getting the the mill back into a working mill. The first job was to clear the grounds which had not been touched for 15yrs. WE then tackled building a new waterwheel luckily my experience was in the building trade. the photos will show the work. After the wheel we had to make new wooden teeth for all the drive wheels We then uncovered an old bread oven that had been broken in half by 2 trees growing through it lucky I am a short arse and could get inside to rebuild it. On our open days we now have a volunteer baker who comes and cook the most amazing bread which people come and queue up for. I had to take down and rebuild a lot of unsafe stonework and Jean Claude Portier dug out the 400 metre millstream which had built up 1 metre of silt over the years. Is this ok for a start and of interest to you. I can send a lot more and photos which I have had difficulty in loading
Protecting same of the French heritage so many old mills have been destroyed and turned into houses it was good to return one back as it was 250 years ago.
