The Girl on the Rock - a mystery from antiquity to today
In the Eastern Rhodopes in Bulgaria, mysterious trapezoidal niches have been found. Some of them are dated from 7500 BC. and are in the name of The Mother Goddess, The Earth. The grandiose ensembles of niches cut into the rocks are always carved in a great height on the upright walls of remote canaries and arrays, mostly on the sun-lit side. They are up to 1 m high and 40-50 cm deep, they are grouped in 3-4 to 100 niches. Bulgarian archaeologists have localized nearly 1500 units.
Once upon a time there were two young and free Thracians. He was brave and in love, she was beautiful and loving. Diomed and Deborah were their names. He belonged to the Thracian tribe Bessi, and she belonged to the Etruscan tribe. All lived in understanding in the warm hugs of the Rhodope Mountains. The two lovers have already seen themselves as a family - happy, with children around them. They had their favorite place. Beautiful majestic rocks, emerging from the heart of the mountain, surrounded by centuries-old trees.
But life had different plans for the lovers. One day, the prophetess, Simon, predicted that the Etruscan tribe should go and seek new lands to create a great state (Rome). Severe sadness lay in the hearts of Diomed and Deborah. They had to listen to their parents. She went to the unknown. He was left with loneliness and the rock, where the two were once happy. Not to forget her, he carved in the rock the face of his beloved and many niches, where he placed lamps so that she could return to him. And for the eternity of their relationship, the young man carved under the girl's face a cave. By a precise system of holes, the Thracian made that once a year in the winter equinox a sun ray, a symbol of the male begining, to enter and fertilize the womb of the girl. This is how the new life began, and their love remained eternal, because only she keeps and continues life in all its variety and beauty.
This was reported by Petya Dimitrova from Bulgaria, NGO SMV.
The Thracian tribes have lived on the lands of the present Bulgarians before more than 7,500 BC. They were a very developed civilization, which has cult The Mother Goddess, the Earth and the Sun. On the lands of modern Bulgaria are found many very well preserved settlements, sanctuaries and artifacts. Some of these tribes moved and settled on the lands of Western Europe, and particularly in Italy and other European countries. These are the so-called Etruscan tribes who settled permanently in the lands of present-day Tuscany. Their king Enei was the founder of Rome. Gemini Romulus and Rem are his direct descendants. The Thracian tribes left the heritage to modern Europeans the traditions of making wine, olive oil, gold jewelry, etc. This makes this history a European dimension.
