The scream of the dead warrior
This is a story about e the brave individuals and the citizens of Bitola, who stood in defense of the city's symbol, known as the Officer's House.
The Оfficer's house was built in 1911 by the Governor of the Bitola vilayet Abdul Kerim Pasha, completely completed in 1919. The officer's house, which is a landmark of the city of Bitola and a cultural and historical monument of Bitola and Macedonian culture, according to the city memory, is projected by one architect from Milan and one from Vienna. A cult place for many generations, especially for cultural events.Last years have been "neglected" and left to fail, in order for the previous government to release it for commercial use .Then on January 29, one man "burned" the FB community with an ironic post with which he "sells" the Clock Tower of the 18th century, as a revolt and an allusion to the sales of Officer. He worked in the local government's culture department and made it the first step.He was forced to give up his resignation, starting a petition.Citizens signed it massively, recognizing an initiative without a political оr other background. It was main news on national level. The following day in the evening news on a national television, the Prime Minister gave a statement in which he withdrew his decision to sell and promised the return of the city's building and its renovation for public use.It was the only case on the national level that citizens reversed an object of historical significance from sales ... This is the only such case of resistance and solidarity for the defense of cultural and historical heritage ...
Oficeski Dom is a cultural and historical monument and symbol of the city. It was built by Turkish Governor Abdul Kerim Pasha, who was considered European-oriented and known for his commitment to equality between Muslims and Christians. The building was built by European architects from Milan, Vienna and Ukraine. A rare example of architecture, with great and measured architectural aesthetics, which, besides general stylistic features, has a seal of originality and unacceptability. Characteristic are the brick balconies, the roof lifts and the overhanging of the four towers. The organization of the facade is according to the rule of vertical symmetry, separated by horizontal decorative divides. The object is influenced by the "mauve" style, which in the period of the XIX century first enters as an influence in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is a classic example of breaking the laws of the Government itself, the principles of democracy and corruption. At the same time, it is a unique example in these areas of civil resist and a successful example of changing the Government's decision and forcing them to withdraw and "apologize".
