As the central part of the project Women Carry the World, Trakošćan gallery set up an exhibition of photographs of women carrying loads, taken by American photographer Lekha Singh around the world. The photographs testify to the position of women in the world of hard work and refute the widespread prejudice about the weaker sex. As an accompanying exhibition with a comparative theme, visitors will be able to see historical photographs of women carrying loads, taken at the end of the 19th and in the first half of the 20th century from the museum funds of Castle Trakošćan, Museum of Arts and Crafts and Ethnographic Museum in Zagreb collection. The panel lecture as part of the event will present an anthropological perspective on the topic of women’s work.
