Cuando José Miguel de Barandiarán estudió la cueva de Santimamiñe, no se limitó a recuperar la cultura material que contenía el yacimiento del vestíbulo; recuperó también un legado inmaterial que estaba a punto de perderse, formado de relatos legendarios y mitológicos que, transmitidos oralmente de generación en generación, rodeaban la cumbre de Ereñozar, el valle de Oma y las profundidades de la cueva. When José Miguel de Barandiarán studied the cave of Santimamiñe, he did not limit himself to recovering the material culture contained in the site of the vestibule; he also recovered an immaterial legacy that was about to be lost, made up of legendary and mythological stories that, transmitted orally from generation to generation, surrounded the summit of Ereñozar, the Oma Valley and the depths of the cave. Many years later, a storyteller of the 21st century will share with us these magical tales that are also part of our heritage, of the inheritance we have received.
