There are trails that strech around the municipality of Lapinlahti, both in the village and the countryside. These trails tell the story of different eras and themes. Some trails exist already and more are in the making.

Culture-oriented trails combine both the expansion of the knowledge of the cultural heritage, history and present-day of the residents own municipality as well as the exercisement, health and well-being. Trails and stories are made in the collaboration of the Lastu- The school of architectural and environmental culture, the well-being coordinator of the municipality, the department of the culture of the municipality, the technical support and IT-department of the municipality, Lapinlahti-Club and other local residents.

The trails tell the stories of notable persons, houses that have dissapeared from the village, pieces of art, natural wonders, events in the history, changes of the environment and names of the places. Everything that is interesting and important in the cultural heritage of our village.

The long stories and photo material of the trails is collected in the municipality's website. There are pictures, excercise tips and qr-codes by the trail in the nature. It is possible to access the texts via the qr-codes. The map and small introductory texts are also printed as a small leaflet so it is also possible to walk the trail without a smartphone, and later read the longer texts at home in the computer.

The trails are suitable for walkers of all ages and the routes of the trails are planned to be such that also the physically challenged people can access at least parts of the trail. The trails are also utilised for example by the school classes and daycare groups.

European Dimension

The strong knowledge of your own cultural heritage increases the interest of the cultural heritage of other countries and the larger understanding of the cultural heritage.
