Old Krusharsko Neighbourhood in Kochani - Endless source of inspiration
Vue d'ensemble
The Krusharsko Neighbourhood is one of the first inhabited neighbourhoods in Kochani. The ancestors of most of us- people in Kochani, lived there. Here the houses have stayed authentic, old and untouched, like air-open museum of our history and our cultural heritage, inevitable from the European heritage as well. Although they have been abandoned long ago, every stone in them has a soul and a story to tell about our exciting and, at the same time, bitter past.
Because we were raised in this place, its DNA is written in our veins, arousing adornment and inspiring us to create something new, not destroying but making our historical buildings even prettier; creation so powerfully arising from the bottom of our young hearts. With brushes we paint the rebellion, the agony, the suffering, but also the beauty of life of the people who lived in these houses.
In honor of the apostles Pavle and Petar, the same wise men who have thought us all the secrets we know now, every year on the great Christian holiday Petrovden we make “Petrovdenski konaci” come alive again. On this day we unite in a slightly different way of creating, by painting on canvas, and we present our pride and origin. From every angle, with every color and emotion available, we paint our history while narrating the stories of our grandparents who lived in a very different, olden days.
Unfortunately, very few people have heard of N.Macedonia or have just ran across it in geography class, but know nothing about it. It’s a wonderful, small country with a lot of hard working people, with good heart, who due to their peacefulness have been captivated so often. Despite the Minervas, Macedonians have managed to create so much; architecture, music, dances, songs, stories, sayings, riddles, and although they have been burned down so often, they open-heartedly saved so much of it for us, their children. Although in Europe Macedonia is voiceless, we still have a magnificent culture, which is worth taking time to explore its mystery.
