Ha del Castillo en el monasterio de Simat de la Valldigna
HA del Castillo! ((History and social Action around Spanish fortifications) is a heritage education project developed by ARAE Patrimonio).
The project arises from reflection about the knowledge of the population about its most important heritage, in this defensive case. Their (worldview) vision of their fortress, often the population icon (it is often located in the municipality coat-of-arms or in the logo of the consistory and local administration) is not real, because it have not a correct setting value.
The recycled cardboard representations of the fortresses allows us to bring these strengths closer to the rest of the population, under a prism of architectural, sociological and urban participation, improving the perception of these historical spaces.
With the desire to use creativity, architecture, culture and heritage tools for social inclusion, and with the goal of seeking public awareness with their heritage.
Marinyén or Alfandech Castle is an ancient fortress of Arab origin built at the end of the eleventh century, with Christian reforms. During the Castilians and Aragonese war in 1364, this castle also served as a refuge for Cistercian monks. Subsequently, with the expulsion of the Moors, he was abandoned.
Today the neighbourhood try to promote the value of the castle, urging the Administration to restore parts of it. Among these actions is the inclusion of Alfandech Castle in the red list of heritage promoted by Hispania Nostra.
