GUIDED TOUR OF THE EXHIBITION / FIUME FANTASTIKA: City phenomenons
Fiume Fantastika: City Phenomena exhibition tells a story about the city of Rijeka that has grown radically in the past 150 years of its urban history. It has become a global transport and industrial centre and a synonym of urban living. The exhibition is a central event of the programme titled Slatko i slano (Sweet and Sour) which is a part of the project Rijeka 2020 – the European Capital of Culture. The exhibition is a result of research of the turbulent history of Rijeka that included various social and political systems and territorial divisions. The focus of the urban development of Rijeka based substantially on new technologies and economic effects. In such circumstances, a specific architecture was developed as well as the urban phenomena that overcome the issue of style, language or aesthetics and that generate their own, local and specific, but at the same time also autonomous urban culture. The exhibition is organised in ten pavilion and each of which covers a single Rijeka phenomenon. A guided tour of the exhibition for the experts in the field of the protection of cultural heritage is planned for 1 October 2020. The experts will be introduced to the urban development of Rijeka, an innovative comprehensive presentation and research methodology that may all serve as a basis for similar heritage projects.
