Aperçu

Through three scenes, by the group JANO, we will see how the teaching methods  were evolving in the ancient Rome until they prevailed in the Mediterranean area, constituting one of the pillars of a great Empire.

In the first scene we will see a Roman family as it was the mainstay of education that fell to the mother until the children were 7 years old, so the girls were learning the basics to get by in domestic environment, meanwhile the father took care of the boys until they were 16 or 17 years when they entered the army or continued their training. In scene 2 it is represented the capture of Greek slaves, as many of them became teachers, changing the scholar system enterely. At those days, latin was still the vehicular language of the whole west.

In scene 3, a class will be shown with the teacher and his pupils
accompanied by learning tools, which will serve to know the places where the teaching was given, the different levels of education - from basic knowledge of writing or accounting up to the great philosophical schools-, and the social classes that had access to them.
