EREÑO, FROM THE HISTORICAL EXPLOITATION OF RED MARBLE TO THE EREÑO ART PROJECT BEHATOKIA
The extraction of the famous Red Marble of Ereño in the quarry of Geranda dates back to Roman times and the middle of the past century. These inert and abandoned spaces have been
served as an inspiration to the artists of LePatafisic Cabinet , Rober Garay and Alberto Palomera, to carry out an original artistic. His work Ereño Behatokia takes us on a journey through an arcane era, in which Memory, Art and Nature are combined through interpretation of innovative contemporary installations that build a dialogue with Time.
Mount Geranda in Red Marble is a place charged with energy and meaning for the inhabitants of Ereño. For this reason the Town Hall of Ereño, together with the Urdaibai Tourism Agency, has been developing two years visits to this enclave by its creators who make of luxury hosts, visits that are now presented in the framework of the European Heritage Days to raise awareness among the public. This unique Art and Nature Gallery is stranded in this impressive cultural landscape.
