Aperçu

Enjoy a beautiful church which is over 1000 years old.

Guides will be on hand to show visitors the outstanding architectural and historical features of this jewel of a building. The perfectly preserved ancient church is thought to have been founded by Saxons as early as 850, and was subsequently rebuilt by the Norman Lords of Bramber. See the spectacular carvings on the tower arches c 1140, a screen dating from 1300, links to the Armada and the Titanic in 'Sea Corner', Victorian and modern stained glass, try to find the cat and the mouse and then watch the rolling slideshows of Old Shoreham in days gone by and the story of our Russian Princess. On a delightful site close to the River Adur with its wooden Toll Bridge (dating from 1782 and still in use), opposite historic Shoreham Airport and next to the 16th century Red Lion Inn, a visit to the church can be the centrepiece of a great day out in the beautiful Adur Valley.
