Tobacco Roads
Four part fairytale about the history of tobacco. The journey begins from Tobacco Island to all over the world and specifically in Eastern Mediterranean Area. From Minor Asia to the Greek port of Kavala, the cultivation of world eastern type (aromatic) of tobacco in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, the tobacco workers, the working conditions inside tobacco warehouses, the bonds between tobacco workers came from different social and religious fond (Armenians, Jews, Orthodox Christians, Muslims),the proccessing of tobacco leaves and the exportation of the product from Kavala to all over the world.
Main character of the fairytale story is tobacco seed called "Basmas". Side characters are 3 children of a Greek family from Ephessos (Minor Asia) who were born at the first decade of 20th century and in 1922 became refugees. They were forced to move to Greece in a small village of Eastern Macedonia. The family continues to cultivate "Basmas" in the traditional way. Meanwhile, too many refugees were working in Kavala's tobacco warehouses struggling to make a living in the multicultural environment of the famous tobacco city of Kavala. Great international tobacco companies settled in Kavala. Human relationships, working conditions, friendships that were built, or even political desputes and other events come alive through the words of the little storyteller. "Basmas" of Kavala was the most famous tobacco kind, well known for its aromatic properties. He travelled from there to all over the world. Tobacco roads were always open for "Basmas"

Tobacco merchants made lots of money selling it and tobacco farmers and tobacco workers had a decent income to provide for their family. People of all ages can also learn about the bad habit of smoking that harms their health or they can discover the alternative uses of the tobacco plant.
