What is the unknown? As the saying goes, everything new is merely well-forgotten old. So let's discuss forgotten history as part of this unknown. We can never claim that we know history 100% because it is constantly being distorted and changed, regrettably, this affects not just the scientific but also the political realm. As an analogy, consider George Orwell's dystopia "1984", in which the protagonist constantly alters the government's "promises" retrospectively. In fact, he is simply changing history in people's minds, because they will no longer understand where the truth ends and the lies begin. A nearly identical scheme operates today, and the most frightening thing is that IT WORKS: people genuinely believe in the lies of the authorities and follow their leaders like a blind herd. Therefore, it is crucial to be interested in and study "pure" history, not spiced with the nationalistic views of each state, and to draw your own conclusions about historical figures' actions. You cannot just say that you're uninterested or disengaged - history plays a vital role in numerous aspects of our lives, not only social ones. That's why lazy people simply follow the crowd, in order not to spend their time in reflection. And, sadly, their number is increasing over time

One such lost part of history belongs to the descendant of Vasyl Kochubey, whose life story was depicted by Pushkin, Mickiewicz, and many other writers, a literary critic and theater activist - Mikhail Nikolayevich Kochubey. He lived in the village where my family originated, so this historical figure intrigued me. I carried out research on his biography and genealogy to learn more about the history of the estate where he resided. And, of course, I visited the place where he once lived. Unfortunately, nothing remains there now, but the old-timers told me that even 60 years ago they used to visit the site of the destroyed estate to collect bricks for building their houses or barns. Later, I learned about the existence of a memorial church that was built over this man's grave. But it didn't survive to this day either, it was disassembled and a school was built from the remnants. Thus, there's no remnant left from a once prominent landowner and cultural figure, and all the seemingly immortalized material things in history have been transformed into something new.
