Bricklaying
We're nineth- grade students of primary school in Renče. In honor of 33. days european cultural heritage we decided to make a video about bricklaying which is a part of our cultural heritage. Bricklaying used to be a common profession in our region, but now the profession is slowly disappearing. Before the 1. world war there was at least one bricklayer at home. Because there were so many of them there wasn't enough work. Bricklayers from Renče started looking for seasonal work outside of Goriška region. They went to Avstro-Ogrska*. They also went to Switzerland. In the year 1897 the bricklaying school first opened their doors to the public. After the 2. world war there was a lot of work for the bricklayers but there wasn't enough payment. They renovated houses and schools in the Goriška region. They also were involved in building Nova Gorica town., which is now a modern town in Goriška.
