To celebrate National Heritage Week Ruth Hanniffy, Sligo Biodiversity Officer will lead a guided bat walk, in association with Ballymote Tidy Towns.
We will meet at Ballymote Train Station and begin at 9pm with a short introduction to bats, their vital role in our ecosystem, and how to use a bat detector.
As dusk descends, we will explore the surrounding area to catch a glimpse of Ballymote’s bats and to hear them as they feed along the trees.

The event provides an opportunity to learn about the only true flying mammals and the glimpse the secret world of these fascinating species.
Ruth will bring bat detectors to be shared among the group.

This is an outdoor, nighttime event so please wear study and shoes and suitable clothing. Dogs are not permitted.

Everyone is welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No booking required. Parking is available at the train station.
