Coastal Community Training & Networking Event in Biodiversity & Conservation in relation to the Beach, Dunes and Marine Life at Tramore, Co Waterford

Saturday 17th August 2024
1\. Walk and Wade.
Dr Tasneem Khan, a marine biologist will provide training in the recognition, status and monitoring of coastal species, particularly those indicative of a healthy water body. The aim is to encourage increased understanding of water quality issues in our area.
All welcome but please exercise care around the rockpools and have appropriate footwear.
Meet at the Ladies' Slip, Tramore, 10:00 a.m.

2\. Only Birds Sit on the Fence!
Members of the Maharees Conservation Association, Co Kerry will provide a demonstration and information session on best practice where chestnut fencing has been installed to protect sand dune habitat. There will also be a guided exploration of the dune and salt marsh habitats.
Meet at the end of Tramore Prom at 10.30 a.m.

3\. The Ground under Our Feet
Robbie Galvin, a geologist from the Copper Coast Geopark will help us to identify some common rocks on the beach and point out some features of the geological structure of the immediate area.
Meet at the Ladies' Slip at 2.30 p.m.
