See the amazing box tombs of Skreen and hear the noted archaeologist and author Mary B. Timoney tell the story of Skreens most notable families and the tombs built for them by the Diamond family of stonemasons. Refreshments following.

The Skreen graveyard is ancient and in places the ground is steep and uneven. Please wear sturdy walking shoes.

On the previous evening, the eve of National Heritage Week Friday 16th, join us at 8PM in Skreen Parish Church (F91 CP38)
Hear the true story of the connection between Sligo and the infamous Australian bushranger Ned Kelly, as told by author Michael O'Connor in his Book "From Sligo to Stringybark." On the 26th of October, 1879, Kelly killed three Irish-born policemen, one of whom was from Sligo. Hear how the event unfolded and how Kelly was eventually brought to justice.
