The Big Dig at Cork Public Museum
Cork Public Museum are once again delighted to be collaborating with the School of Irish Archaeology to bring the 'Big Dig' to Fitzgerald Park for Heritage Week 2024. If you want to learn what it is like to be an archaeologist and help excavate a Viking house, then come along and discover if you are the next Indiana Jones. The staff from the School of Irish Archaeology will help bring the Viking period to life, helping their young archaeologists explore their Viking past. The event is for children between the ages of 6 and 12.
There are 5 sessions running every hour between 11am and 3pm. Tickets are free but spaces are limited so booking is essential to avoid disappointment. Please follow the link below to book your child's place. Walk-ins are welcome if the sessions are not booked out.
There will also be Viking Dagger and Bead making workshops available on the day.
