Exhibition «Pottery» at the Saint-Martin church!
The site has a rich history that began in 844, when the first church was built and dedicated to Saint Martin. Around 1246, this oratory was demolished and replaced by a larger church whose main entrance faced the sunset. The abbot of Saint-Sernin de Toulouse was the prior and the dedication was renewed to Saint Martin. A 1617 report called the building "Gothic" and "Dark Fort." This is explained by the fact that the church is architecturally linked to the castle, becoming one with it. Nearly 180 years later, the French Revolution did not spare the building. It remained in near disrepair until the end of the first half of the 19th century. Its condition imposed its destruction and was replaced in 1868 by the current church. The new church was consecrated by M. Desprey, then bishop of Toulouse, and still dedicated to Saint Martin. A gallery was built in 1886\\. But we reserve the best for last: in 1814, Pope Pius VII prayed in this church.
