Aperçu

It is on this site that in 1835, a company of shareholders from Aubusson had built the first college of the city. Initially composed of a central building and another in return for a wing, this establishment, opened in 1838, then saw its architecture evolve over time. Gradually modernized, it was also marked by the great events of history as it became a temporary hospital during the First World War. Faced with an increase in the number of students attending school, and hosting a college and a high school on the same site, in the 1950s and 1960s, it then set up new buildings enabling it to fulfil its various functions. A female internship is then added to another site. In 1995, the high school took the name of one of its illustrious students, who became a fighter of sleeping sickness in Africa, Doctor Eugene Jamot.
