Rize is an original cultural place which has as vocation to pass on(transmit) a narrative shared by Villeurbanne, builds in several voices(votes) from archives, from territory, reports of the inhabitants and works of associated researchers. By working to make known and recognise the cultures of Villeurbannais, Rize contributes to social cohesion and to «food together» in the contemporary city. He takes the narrative into account first and foremost by the inhabitants of their peculiar and collective history(story). He(It) grants so a big(great) importance to the collection of oral memory, to the conduct(driving) of conversations(maintenances) by the researchers and to the participation of the public in the cultural action. Rize gathers(combines) in the same place the local archives of Villeurbanne, the media library and the arts complexes and pedagogic: gallery of exhibition(exposure), amphitheatre(lecture hall), workshops(studios), coffee(café) and patio. All (documentary, scientific and cultural) functions(offices) establish(constitute) an unique(only) institution in the service(department) of the work of report(memory): collect and keep(preserve) tracks, analyse them by research(search), promote them by mediation.
