The museum takes its name from Georges de La Tour, born in 1593 in Vic-sur-Seille, the greatest Lorrain painter of the seventeenth century. Georges de La Tour was the subject of numerous orders from King Louis XIII and a large Parisian clientele. In 2003 the Georges de La Tour Museum opened its doors in Vic-sur-Seille, the painter’s hometown. The public can discover a hundred paintings, from the 17th to the 19th century, including the most singular work of the painter: "Saint-Jean Baptiste in the Desert". The Georges de La Tour Museum regularly organizes events to better understand the richness of the permanent collection. Each year, a temporary exhibition highlights the rich collection of works belonging to the Museum.
