Aperçu

Built in 1634 by Nicolas Tillon, master builder of Richelieu, made to order of Henry de Baudéan, count of Parabère, the Orangery lives(remains) the unique(only) vestige of the medieval castle. The French-style gardens of the XVIIth century, located along a big(great) channel(canal), surrounded with lemon trees and with orange trees, are closed by a gallery-orangery and detached houses(flags) footbridges. In 1913, this monument is in ruins and will be saved and listed(classified) in 1925 thanks to the determination of mothais citizens and of the regionalist association from Poitou chaired by the Dr Corneille. Redeployed to room of exhibitions(exposures), the gallery livens up(leads) around cultural events.
