"Le Manoir de Mademoiselle", so called in honour of Mademoiselle Henriette Ranson Ferrand, the last direct descendant of the Elie Ferrand family, winemakers and cognac producers since the middle of the seventeenth century, is located at the place called at Barraud, commune of Segonzac in Charente. This 600 sqm manor house on a 6 hectare plot was built by Elie Ferrand the 7th of the name in 1860/1861 on a property belonging to the family for several generations. It was in this manor that Élie lived the 8th (1839-1927) remarkable man in every respect. An exceptional cognac producer, he won a considerable number of medals and diplomas at fairs, exhibitions and competitions in France and abroad. He won a gold medal at the Universal Exhibition of Paris 1900, and was made a Knight of Agricultural Merit on this occasion.
