Emblematic and historical site of Neyron, the battery of Sermenaz, was part of the first belt of defense of Lyon and was built from 1878 to 1879\\. His mission was to protect a blind spot at Vancia Fort. More commonly called «Fort de Neyron», and property of the municipality for 10 years, the battery of Sermenaz was until now closed to visitors. Since 2020, the town hall has undertaken, thanks to grants from the Heritage Foundation, the AURA Region, the Department of Ain and the Green Fund, the rehabilitation of the place to preserve it and give it life. Citizen or associative initiatives have already seen the light of day: 1st creation market, health trail, tree planting, trail la Neyrolande, but also participatory workshops, etc. A project of creation of third-place centered on the feeder axes, economic, cultural and leisure is underway.

Un parking est à proximité. Le lieu étant en cours de réhabilitation, toutes les conditions d'accès, notamment pour les personnes à mobilité réduites, sont à améliorer.
