Aperçu

The funicular of the Ayré in Barèges is the first ski lift built in 1936 and 1947 for skiers of the time and for the needs of EDF to supply the site of the large hydroelectric complex Pragnères. The ski slopes it served hosted national and international competitions where great champions such as Emile Allais, James Couttet, François Vignole, Léo Lacroix, JC Killy, the sisters Goitchel, Annie Famose, Isabelle Mir, etc. It also served an 80 m high jump where the last competition took place in 1971\\. Summer and winter, it gives access to a restaurant and a panoramic terrace in the middle of a high mountain landscape accessible to all at 2000 m altitude, in the heart of a magnificent forest with a remarkable and varied flora and fauna. Abandoned in 2000, our association Funitoy seeks to enhance it for its renovation.
