Aperçu

The Guillaume de Rubrouck Museum, inaugurated in 1996 by the President of the Republic of Mongolia in person, is a unique relay in time and space, between the Flemish plain and the steppes of Central Asia. Nestled at the foot of a superb church halle, in a small Flemish village full of charm and authenticity, the Guillaume de Rubrouck House will take you to the heart of the immense Mongolian Empire in the footsteps of Brother Guillaume, Ambassador of the King of France Saint Louis, writer and great humanist, author of a masterpiece of travel literature. Born in Rubrouck, now twinned with Bulgan (Mongolia), the Franciscan friar William achieved the feat of traveling barefoot to the mysterious and feared heart of the Empire of Gensis Khan, Karakorum. He wrote on his return, well before Marco Polo, the most beautiful story of discovery and adventure of the time. Through paintings, photos and objects, his House allows to discover the life of this people of breeders, still mostly nomads. Yo
