Lane over the water
The museum building is the old town hall whose foundation stone was laid on May 24, 1868\\. On the occasion of its inauguration, Napoleon III assigned the arms of the city. In 1978, this building became too small and a new town hall was built next door. That of Napoleon III was transformed into a museum of local history of the city. The rich history of Rueil-Malmaison can be discovered in this local history museum. Each room brings together by theme works, objects and memories that constitute the memory of Rueil-Malmaison. You can admire the majestic painting of Maurice Orange Bonaparte in Egypt contemplating the mummy of a King. The Musée municipal categorized as “Musée de France”, the teams actively participate in national events and create several temporary exhibitions each year to showcase its collections.
