Storming the Royal Fortress of Najac
Famous in the southwest, the fortress of Najac was built in 1253 by Alphonse de Poitiers, to defend the Rouergue. It was actively involved in the struggles against the Cathars and the Hundred Years War. Its dungeon served as a prison for the last Templars. Witness to the military architectural engineering of the Middle Ages, its extraordinary defensive power is highlighted by a large model. The keep houses 6.80m arches, unique in the world. Halfway up, the Gothic chapel, with its innumerable companions, hides the secret passage of the last refuge of the Governors, before reaching the grandiose panorama of the city of Najac.
