The castle of Aujac: The sentinel of the Cevennes! This castle was established in the 13th century in the upper valley of the Cèze, in the heart of the Cevennes, on a rocky promontory at the foot of Mont Lozère. Perched 600 meters above sea level, at the junction of the Gard, Lozère and Ardèche, this castle which is still inhabited today, offers an exceptional panorama. The castle of Aujac, with its square tower, round tower and drawbridge, illustrates the architectural evolution of castles from medieval to Renaissance. At the foot of the castle is a farm that now houses exhibitions, projections, a shop and occasional events.
