Aperçu

Built between 1662 and 1669 for the baron Charles-Louis-Alphonse of Sassenage, the castle of Sassenage is the resting place(last home) occupied by the Lords of Sassenage. Splendid example of classic architecture, he manifests lifestyle in the XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries. The cooking(kitchen) of the XVIIth century, lounges(shows), rooms(chambers) of splendour and the private apartments still shelter the family furniture. Furniture of the famous cabinet makers Ax is a part of this prestigious heritage. The environmental park of eight hectares, opened free to the public, offers a space advantageous for imagining and for strolls in family. Since 1971, the castle is property of Fondation de France and groups(includes) two activities: a commercial service(department), for the wedding organisation, seminaries(seminars) and events, and a cultural service(department), preservation, promotion(valuation) and animation of heritage.
