In Monforte del Cid, the Moors and Christians festivities are one of the most important celebrations. in the identity of our people. This festival, which remembers the struggle between the Christian and Moorish forces during the Reconquista, not only represents our heritage intangible, but also a historical and cultural link with Europe. As young participants in this tradition, we have grown following in the footsteps of our families, and now, more than ever, we are an active part of the
festival.

The Moors and Christians festivals are not just a spectacle, but also a narration of our  history. Part of Eueopw history.  Through parades, costumes, embassies and music, we relive the struggle between Moors and Christians, which culminated in the reconquest of the territories by the Christians.

In our project, we have designed an educational board game that seeks to convey the history and tradition of the Moors and Christians festivals in a fun and accessible way for the youngest. The game consists of a board in which the players advance by answering questions related to the squads and the most important events of our festivals.
This game was presented at the Jorge Juan School in Monforte del Cid during the month of December, a week after the festivals. The children enjoyed the activity very much and, in addition to having a good time competing with each other, they learned about the history of the Reconquista in a playful way. It also helped many children who were not originally from the town or who came from other countries to become familiar with our local history.

The idea was also presented at the Monforte del Cid Town Hall, in the festival department, where it received an excellent reception. Thanks to the support of the institution, a free copy of the game was made for each comparsa, which allowed our project to reach the entire festive community. We personally took charge of taking the game from squad to squad, explaining how it worked, and we are pleased to say that it was a resounding success, both among the members of the comparsas and among the children.

The Moors and Christians festivities in Monforte del Cid are not only a tribute to the
history of the Reconquista, but also a way of keeping alive the traditions that connect
us with our local and European identity.
