20 September 2025 (14:30 - 15:30) Join Lost Glasgow's Norry Wilson for an engaging talk looking back to the city's 800th birthday celebrations - a time of parades, books, bin strikes, worker occupations, rapid change, and minor miracles. It's one part magic lantern show, one part a meditation on the changing face and moods of Mother Glasgow. Book your tickets now to avoid disappointment! Norry Wilson Biography Journalist and social historian Norry Wilson has had a lifelong fascination with his home city. He first fell down the vintage photography rabbit hole while working on the Evening Times. Since then, following the launch of the Lost Glasgow Facebook site, he has gone on to stage a variety of exhibitions and talks. Think of him as the ‘Raider of the Lost Archives’. Now, with over 400k online followers, he continues to tickle the city's collective memory muscle, teasing out old stories, forgotten facts, and the lost histories hidden in the photographic record of old Glasgow. Limited spaces available in the surrounding streets – public transport encouraged Some Blue Badge parking available – contact the ARC for further information. All microphones in the building work in conjunction with an infrared hard of hearing system. There is also bike parking at the Advanced Research Centre (ARC). Water bottle refill stations For queries on accessibility at the ARC, please contact us on ARCEnquiries@glasgow.ac.uk or call our reception on +44 (0)141 330 4170.
