The Riverside Volunteer Guides will lead the tour from the museum’s world renowned collections, over the River Clyde to Govan to discover an area rich in historical significance and vibrant identity. From the Viking Age to present day, the people of Govan and Glasgow have made their vision for the city a reality through the River. The tour will explore Govan as a religious site, the workshop of World and now a centre for tourism. It will also explore the development of the Clyde at Govan. Stories about famous visionaries such as Mary Barbour will also be told! The tour will end at the Govan Stones - one of the most important historic sites in Glasgow. Please allow time afterwards to visit the Govan Stones Doors Open Day activities. Overview Riverside Museum is Glasgow's award-winning transport and technology museum. Located at the junction of the Rivers Kelvin and Clyde, it houses interactive displays which tell the stories behind Glasgow's social and industrial heritage. You can cycle to this tour and park your bike at the Riverside Museum.
