Newark Castle - Guided walk with Inverclyde Tourist Group
6 September 2025 (13:30 - 15:30) 7 September 2025 (13:30 - 15:30) Inverclyde Tourist Group is a voluntary, not-for-profit organisation which undertakes meeting and greeting visitors to Inverclyde including cruise ships at Greenock Ocean Terminal. We provide information on local attractions, businesses and transport. We also conduct tours and talks for groups and host information stalls at The Oak Mall and local festivals and exhibitions. Guided walk starting at The Shipbuilders sculpture, at Coronation Park, Port Glasgow there will a short guided walk to Newark Castle highlighting points of interest on the way. The tour will continue inside the Castle providing an historical timeline of and bringing to life, the stories of the previous inhabitants. Newark Castle is a nationally important site which features examples of cutting-edge architecture of its time. Its history runs parallel to the early history and development of Port Glasgow and how its people lived. Modern public art revisits the past, whilst promoting a positive future outlook. Saturday 6th: 1:30pm - 3:30pm Sunday 7th: 1:30pm - 3:30pm Newark Castle has narrow stairs, uneven floors and dark passages.
