Art Deco in Prague: the mayor's residence
Prague House, the official representation of the City of Prague in Brussels serves as a bridge between Prague and the European Union, fostering cultural and diplomatic exchanges. We invite visitors to explore our historic premises and a special exhibition dedicated to the Art Deco Residence of the Lord Mayor of Prague in honour of this year’s Art Deco theme of Heritage Days. The Residence of the Mayor of Prague is considered an architectural gem from the early 20th century. Designed by renowned architects in the 1920s, the residence is a masterpiece of Art Deco elegance, blending geometric ornamentation, luxurious materials, and exquisite craftsmanship. The exhibition will offer a visual journey through its lavish interiors, showcasing original furniture, stained glass, and decorative details that highlight Prague’s artistic and architectural legacy from the interwar period. This unique combination of the Prague House’s historical setting and the exhibition on the Lord Mayor’s Residence will immerse visitors in the rich Art Deco heritage of Prague, revealing the city’s cultural sophistication and artistic innovation. The exhibition is in English.
