The Musée Juin 44 was inaugurated in 1953 in the outbuildings of L'Aigle castle by Madame la Maréchale Leclerc de Hautecloque. Thanks to an audio-guided staging, the different paintings will immerse you in the heart of the important events of the Second World War and more particularly those that took place in the region. From the appeal of 18 June 1940 to the defeat of the Germans, come and discover, through life-size reconstitutions of scenes, the various wax reproductions and authentic voices of the great characters of this troubled period. They are presented in full size so that you can fully enjoy your visit to meet General De Gaulle, Roosevelt, Churchill, General Leclerc and many others... All major figures are represented. You will plunge back into the harsh reality of the Second World War thanks to authentic sound clips from the BBC or the call of General de Gaulle, and relive the great hours of this global conflict. A 36 m2 animated strategic map will present the Battle of Normandy. You will experience in detail the progression of the allied troops, from the landing on the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944 to the liberation of L'Aigle on August 22, 1944. Come and discover or rediscover this museum which was the first talking museum in France.
