The language of medieval stalls In 22 panels, the exhibition presents the medieval stalls, wooden seats reserved for religious, arranged in the liturgical choir, and generally richly decorated. The sculpted motifs, of a great variety, allow to approach the society of the late Middle Ages, seeing it living in small scenes of daily life, practicing an artisanal activity, or engaging in games. The religious and moral aspects are not forgotten and next to holy characters, proverbs mock human stupidity... Many photos evoking the stalls of all regions of France illustrate the explanatory texts.
