EXHIBITION / Brief History of Croatian Modern Sculpture
The central event of this year's European Heritage Days in Croatia, on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the devastating earthquake that hit central Croatia, is the exhibition Brief History of Croatian Modern Sculpture which will present a combination of history, art and renovation. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the unique space of the renovated neoclassical Building of the Custodian of Sisak Diocese in Sisak, a protected cultural asset, and at the same time enjoy exceptional artistic works by eleven renowned Croatian artists: Robert Frangeš-Mihanović, Ivan Meštrović, Šime Vulas, Ksenija Kantoci, Ivan Kožarić, Ratko Petrić, Rudolf Valdec, Tomislav Ostoja, Anton Dominik Fernkorn, Neven Bilić. The exhibition represents the development of Croatian sculpture from the end of the nineteenth century to today and is a kind of recognition to all who participated in the renovation of a large number of buildings with cultural heritage status during that five-year period, such as the Custodian Building.
