Photographic exhibition "Ensemble" by Bertrand Delais
"Horizontal windows for seated men, vertical when standing". These words of Auguste Perret, architect of the Palais d'Iéna, awakened in Bertrand Delais a double interrogation that is the basis of this exhibition. Isn’t the building that now houses the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (EESC) in deep harmony with the institution’s mission: to tell the story of French society and seek a "common" that would unite us? And then, how can photography capture both the spirit of an architect’s place and the breath of a society in motion? From this reflection is born TOGETHER, a photographic exhibition conceived as a double visual promenade: one dedicates the place — the Palais d'Iéna, Perret’s masterpiece —, the other shows moments of today’s French society. Two paths that come together around a photograph of the common, which gives its name to the exhibition. Faithful to his aesthetic approach, where photography flirts with engraving and painting, Bertrand Delais deploys his work in the hypostyle room, a monumental and emblematic space of the Palais d'Iéna, which he marries through the staging of the exhibition itself. An exhibition to discover as part of the European Heritage Days, on September 20 and 21, 2025, but also accessible to the public from September 19, 2025, within the Palace of Jena. Through this perspective, the EESC affirms its vocation as a space for citizen dialogue, contemporary memory and highlighting committed artistic expressions.
