Memory of the Newfoundlanders: exhibition, screenings and testimonies
Through a selection of rare photos, archival films and testimonies from former Newfoundlanders, the public is invited to dive into the history of the Great Fishery. A moving immersion in the heart of a part of Breton maritime heritage. The photographic exhibition based on the book "Terre Neuvas - Le legs de Maurice et Emile" by Nadine Belin will reveal the daily life at sea of those who sailed the Grand Banks between the 1950s and 1980 – the last period of long-distance fishing. Unpublished photos taken by Maurice Geste (mechanic) and Émile Jenouvrier (radio-telegraphist) on these long-distance boats. Moreover, former sailors will come to share their memories on board the morutiers during meetings with the public. A valuable opportunity to hear, in person, the untold stories of those who experienced the last campaigns in the waters of Newfoundland. Conference-testimonies from 3 PM to 5 PM
