🏛️ Le Grand Atelier opens its doors for free!

On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the Grand Atelier, museum of art and industry in Châtellerault, will be free for all visitors on Saturday and Sunday from 2pm to 7pm.

Take advantage of this weekend to (re)discover the museum and its different spaces:

• Auto Moto Vélo: more than 200 vehicles and objects to trace two centuries of history of the "land transport revolution";
• Manufacture d'armes de Châtellerault: a journey through its industrial and social history;
• Cabaret du Chat Noir: poetic recreation of shadow theatre and the atmosphere of Montmartre in the late 19th century. 👉 Temporary exhibitions to discover: «Sylvain Chavanel – Itinerary of a champion»: portraits, bikes, medals, a dive into the cyclist’s career; «La Manu et le sport 1945–2024»: a fascinating story between sport and the working class milieu; « Aux origines du vélo (1817–1870) »: an exceptional exhibition of rare two-wheelers, from the balance bike to the velocipede. 🔎 Zoom on the museum’s architecture Former assembly plant of the Manufacture d'armes, this emblematic building (1886) is listed as a historical monument.
